George Henry was born on 25 June 1840 at Anchor Row, Ikeston, Derbyshire to James THOMASIN (TOMASIN) and Mary LEAVERS. He had moved to Burr Lane, Ilkeston, Derbyshire with the family by the 1851 census. He is recorded as a servant, employed as a coachman, and living at Beacon House, 31 Emery Lane, Beacon Street, Lichfield, Staffordshire at the 1861 census. By the 1901 census he is shown as a lodger at 66 Clarance Gardens, London
