Ann Elizabeth was born on 26 May 1884 at 48 Hampton Street, Southsea, Hampshire to Walter PURCHES, a plumber, and Sarah Ann HOPKINS.

She is shown as living with the family at 1 Asylum Cottage, Asylum Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire at the 1891 census, but unemployed and living at 5 Whitland Terrace, Asylum Rd. Milton, Portsea  prior to her marriage in 1907.

She married Arthur Henry TOMASIN on 27 June 1907 at St James Church, Milton, Portsea, Hampshire. She had seven children between 1907 and 1915.

The couple set up home in Ryde on the Isle of Wight where she was an active member on the committees of the local Ryde Townswomen's Guilds.

''My recollection of her is of a 'remote', small, fat person in a fir coat that reached to the floor. Her feet appeared to be hidden by the coat giving her the appearance of 'a hairy Dalek' of Dr. Who fame.''

Ann Elizabeth died on 21 July 1964 at 76 Farhalls Crescent, Horsham, West Sussex of Congestive heart failure, Myocardial regeneration and Essential hypertension.
